 Description

Set of 3 records containing dialog, stories, songs and instrumentals from Song of the South. Manufactured by Victor Co. of Japan and probably released around the time that Song of the South was released to theaters in Japan, around 1951. At this point I am unsure if these originally came in a box set.

 Contents

S-1004, Side 1: "Song of the South" and "What's Uncle Remus Said"; Side 2: "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da"; S-1005, Side 1: "Johnny and Ginny"; Side 2: "Bird Singing and Uncle Remus" and "Sooner or Later"; S-1006, Side 1: "Uncle Remus' Story - The Laughin' Place - Part 1"; Side 2: "Uncle Remus' Story - The Laughin' Place - Part 2".

 Comments

When I first listened to these records, I was expecting to hear a Japanese version of Capitol's CC-40. Instead, what I heard was simply a copy of the movie's soundtrack—dialog, instrumentals and all. I thought that was interesting, considering that the dialog and songs are all in English, and this was a Japanese release.

As always, thanks to Aaron Berman for informing me of this item!
