SongoftheSouth.net Hits 200,000 Visitors

It’s amazing to think that in just under a year (since April 2002), SongoftheSouth.net’s visitor count has doubled from 100,000 to 200,000 hits. That’s quite a milestone! It just goes to show that the word is indeed getting out; thank you!

And speaking of milestones, James’ UncleRemusPages.com, home of the Song of the South Petition, is celebrating 6 years of web presence as of March 3rd. His home page sports a new look; go have a visit!

New Community Section Launched

I have always wanted to create a way for other fans of this movie to communicate with each other and be able to voice their opinions. Designed as a replacement for my failed Song of the South Forum, this new Community section has been created to act as a central hub for ways people can communicate with other fans and voice their opinions on this film, and keep updated on news related to Song of the South. There are several sources currently available, and I encourage you all to get involved! This will also help to spread the word further.

New SongoftheSouth.net T-Shirts Make A Statement

SongoftheSouth.net has released two new, original t-shirt designs declaring that Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit miss Song of the South(and so does the wearer!)

Shown at right are the two currently available designs, shown on the front of the t-shirts. The back of the t-shirts simply read “www.songofthesouth.net” between the shoulders. The t-shirts are 100% white cotton Hanes Beefy-T and are available in all sizes.

These new t-shirts are aimed at not only declaring your support for Song of the South, but encouraging those around you to support the film as well. An ideal place to wear these would be at Disney theme parks.

These t-shirts are available for $16.99. Visit the Store section to order.

Song of the South Turns Fifty-Six

On this day exactly 56 years ago, Song of the South made its debut in theaters. Happy birthday Song of the South! Visit the Campaigns section for more information on the 1946 debut.

Also on this day exactly 2 years ago, SongoftheSouth.net made its debut on the internet. SongoftheSouth.net now averages about 225 unique visitors a day. Take a trip back to what the site looked like two years ago!

SongoftheSouth.net is LaughingPlace.com’s Site of the Week

For the last year or so, every few weeks I would check LaughingPlace.com’s Site of the Week page to see some of the better Disney fan sites out there. Just this very evening I was thinking about how long it had been since a news-worthy item had been posted to this news section. By chance, I pulled up the Site of the Week page and did a double-take!

SongoftheSouth.net is honored to be LaughingPlace.com‘s Site of the Week for 9/30/02 – 10/6/02. Thanks to all of our faithful supporters! And thanks to LaughingPlace.com for providing us all with our daily dose of Disney.

Memorabilia Section Revamped: Collectibles Added

Since Song of the South‘s last threatrical release in 1986, memorabilia all but ended there. Since then, merchandise related to this film has now entered a new era: collectibles. Disney is indeed known for its collectible market, to which Song of the South is no exception. It is with this realization that I have expanded the Memorabilia section to Memorabilia and Collectibles. You will notice two new sections have been added: Splash Mountain and Collectibles. These are the sections that will be seeing the most growth in the future as new items are released by Disney remembering this classic film.

In Defense of Song of the South

For the longest time I have heard mostly disheartening and negative literary views on Song of the South. While they all have their valid reasons for criticizing the film, I have my valid reasons for praising this film. For those of you interested in hearing a little positive comments on this movie for once, I encourage you to read my Defense of Song of the South. I have revised it to address more of the issues relating to this movie and to add a bit more personalization to it.

SongoftheSouth.net Receives Major Facelift

Yes, as much as I hate to go back on my word (see November 2000), I’ve made another design change! No more multi-colored sections; just a simple, easy-to-navigate universal design. I had to do it; I’m a website designer, what did you expect? I feel that the new design (version 4.0) represents the film’s theme more appropriately. In any case, you will find multiple new and updated sections in this release. Enjoy!
