October 13, 2010: So, what have I been up to? SongoftheSouth.net has been relatively quiet for several years. Well, I've got the itch to update! Over the past 9 years, the sunset theme has proven to be a strong site identity, so that will remain unchanged. However, I originally designed this site to be viewable on 640x480 screens. That resolution is all but obsolete today, so I feel that several of the site's navigation features are now too small for modern resolutions. Thus, I'm rolling out SongoftheSouth.net v4.1, a minor facelift to v4.0. Some of the changes will include:
• New site logo for better readability; plus, I don't wish to potentially infringe on Disney copyright by using their "Song of the South" logo.
• The old splash page is going away. What was previously home.html will now be the first page visitors see. More content up front!
• New banner/button ads for SongoftheSouth.net to reflect updated logo (see Links section)
• Larger section headers with arrows to make it more obvious to the visitor what section they're currently viewing
• Larger side tab navigation with non-image text and mouseovers
• Larger text for bottom site navigation links and copyright information.
• Updated copyrights.
• Updated and verified links that point to external web sites.
Additionally, a more major change I will be experimenting with in the next few days will be a blog-driven updated News section which will utilize PHP and MySQL for easier content management. This will also potentially allow for user comments, something I haven't had on this site since I toyed around with a forum many years ago.
Another major change will be the Memorabilia section, which will be gradually switched over to a PHP / MySQL driven database as well, very similar to what I have done with my other hobby web site, Hemingray.info. This in and of itself will be a massive undertaking due to the size of my memorabilia collection.

- Finally updated my Defense for Song of the South. I've wanted to do this for a long time, and I finally sat down and did it. I think it's a big improvement over my old defense, and covers a lot more issues.
